In which Rusty is an honorary Bluth; we bid a sad farewell to Bret Blevins; Hogan the Grim is probably the best at bedtime stories; Asgard has really tight hat game; Hela is a remarkably competent supervillain; there are some sound effects you have to earn; Rusty and Skids fight the Vulture; and Miles has so many feelings about Thor.

  1. Oh so many wolves in Norse myth. Beside Garm and Fenrir, there’s Geri and Freki, Odin’s wolves – one of which was in Simonson’s Thor; Skoll and Hati who are trying to eat the sun and moon; Vali, Loki’s son who was turned into a wolf by Odin to tear out his brother’s guts; etc. The old Norse were so scared of wolves that they wouldn’t use their name, vargr (ie warg), and used the substitute name, ulfr (ie wolf).

  2. This arc is so weird. It’s definitely overly long, but it is a lot of fun. Lots of big stuff.

Rusty and Skids never did get the attention they probably deserved. They’re boring. So this Acts of Vengeance tie-in is pretty lacking. I will say Skids has a point when she asks Rusty why he cares if Vulture escapes. Because, really, WHO CARES if the Vulture escapes? The Vulture is not exactly the most dangerous supervillain.

  3. To Jay’s point about the Logan trailer: my wife, who reads no comics and only tangentially knows X-Men through me, and who has never seen an X-Men film in its entirety, watched the Logan trailer ON HER OWN and said, “I think I’d actually like to see that.” It was a damn good trailer – hopefully the film lives up to it (even though Pierce is trading in his mauve cape for fatigues).

Also, how psyched are you guys to see Karl freakin’ Urban play Skurge in the next Thor film?!?

  4. Miles, your reason for loving Rusty & Skids is wonderful.

I always loved them too, just because they’re the big brother & sister of the X-Factor kids, trying to keep everybody safe and make the world better. I never get tired of characters like that.

  5. Best part of the episode (paraphrasing): They didn’t want to be too conspicuous, so they stole some pterodactyls.

  6. Wait no, Garm is Female. At least she is in Marvel, she had 6 Hell puppies in Kid!Loki’s Journey Into Mystery (including Thori who is the best)
