PARTY & LISTENER MEETUP (no badge required!)

TABLE DETAILS:

We’ll be planting our flag at T-11 in Artist Alley! We will have the usual complement of free swag (stickers!), as well as a number of objects for which you can exchange moneydollars (Con-x-clusive t-shirts! Buttons! Zines! Jay’s comics! Hand-painted patches! Bad drawings of your favorite X-Men!); and Jay will probably be doing sharpie knuckle tats as time allows!

Also, Jay’s mom is going to be hanging out with us on Friday and Saturday. It’s her first comics convention!

Want to be part of Episode 188 of Jay & Miles X-Plain the X-Men? HELL, YES, YOU DO! And you can, because we’ll be recording it LIVE at ECCC on Saturday, March 3 at 1:30 PM in Room 1 on TCC Level 3, along with guests Bret Blevins and Ramon Villalobos!

You can also catch Jay on a few other panels across the weekend! Here’s the full line-up:

FRIDAY, MARCH 2:

Enough Is Enough: Let’s Fix Comics
11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
TCC Level 3, Room 1
Recent allegations have re-opened a decades-old conversation about workplace harassment and the toll it takes in creative fields. Journalist Jay Edidin, Human Resources specialist Casey Gilly, and Oni Publisher James Lucas Jones discuss harassment issues in the comics industry: its prevalence beyond a few bad actors; its ongoing price; and how we can work to change the culture that perpetuates it.

SATURDAY, MARCH 3:

Jay & Miles X-Plain the X-Men – Live!
1:30 – 2:30 PM
TCC Level 3, Room 1
(You know what this one’s about!)

Taking Fandom Seriously
4:00 PM – 5:00 PM
WSCC 604
If you are into engaging creatively, critically, and academically with material you love–which seems likely if you listen to our podcast–you should check out comics scholar and all-around awesome human Andrea Gilroy’s Taking Fandom Seriously panel, which is all about straddling the fan/pro divide.

MEETUP & PARTY

PLEASE NOTE: While the J&M meetup is not an official ECCC-sponsored event and does not require a con badge for admission, any behavior that wouldn’t fly under ECCC’s harassment policy will also get you kicked out of our party (and probably banned from future J&M events). CODIFIED SOCIAL COMPACT FTW! =D

  1. God I wish I could ATTEND! I was buying X-men from 188-(the end of the amount of dissapointment I could take) and New Mutants from #1. If you get the chance, ask Brett if he thinks a different colour pallet might have changed the reception of his inferno story. There’s been a mixed bag of reviews, I’ve always loved the pencils, but found the art washed out
