Jay & Miles X-Plain the X-Men

Jay & Miles at Emerald City Comic Con

We're going to ECCC!

With Emerald City Comic Con just over two weeks out, we figured it was about time to let you know what we’ll be up to, because there’s A LOT!

TABLE DETAILS

LIVE EPISODE & PANELS

PARTY & LISTENER MEETUP (no badge required!)

TABLE DETAILS:

We’ll be planting our flag at L-18 in Artist Alley, with David Wynne! We will have the usual complement of free swag (stickers!), as well as a number of objects for which you can exchange moneydollars (Con-x-clusive t-shirts! Buttons! Zines! Jay’s comics and chapbooks! Bad drawings of your favorite X-Men!); and Jay will probably be doing sharpie knuckle tats as time allows.

LIVE EPISODE & PANELS

Want to be part of Episode 105 of Jay & Miles X-Plain the X-Men? HELL, YES, YOU DO! And you can, because we’ll be recording it LIVE at ECCC on Friday, April 8 at 5:30 PM in T304, along with guests Kris Anka and Scott Koblish!

You can also catch Jay on a few other panels across the weekend! Here’s the full line-up:

FRIDAY, APRIL 8:

We’re Not Gonna Take It: How to Deal with Harassment in the Comics Community
1:30-2:30 PM
T301
Jay: I’ve been wanting to do this panel with Casey Gilly for a long time. We’re going to be teaming up–along with some additional TBA pros–to unpack harassment issues in the comics industry and map out both top-down and grassroots approaches to confronting and solving them.

Jay & Miles X-Plain the X-Men – LIVE!
5:30-6:30 PM
T304
See above. We’re also super excited to welcome two returning guests–the always-awesome G. Willow Wilson and king of Abs-lantis Kris Anka–as well as podcast-newcomer and X-Men ’92 artist Scott Koblish!
(We got so excited we made a facebook event for this one. COME HANG OUT.)

SATURDAY, APRIL 9:

Taking Fandom Seriously
11:00 AM-12:00 PM
T301
Jay: If you are into engaging creatively, critically, and academically with material you love–which seems likely if you listen to our podcast–you should check out comics scholar and all-around awesome human Andrea Gilroy’s Taking Fandom Seriously panel, which is all about straddling the fan/pro divide and pretty much always a highlight of my show.

HEY, LOOK! THERE IS ALSO A FACEBOOK EVENT FOR THIS! YOU DON’T HAVE TO RSVP, BUT IT WOULD MAKE US VERY HAPPY IF YOU DID!

PLEASE NOTE: While the J&M meetup is not an official ECCC-sponsored event and does not require a con badge for admission, any behavior that wouldn’t fly under ECCC’s harassment policy will also get you kicked out of our party (and probably banned from future J&M events). CODIFIED SOCIAL COMPACT FTW! =D

  1. HUZZAH!

Thank you for having something outside the con, for those of us too cheap, too poor, too little childcare, etc.
