  1. First off, my deepest condolences on your loss. “Parting is all we know of heaven and all we need of hell”.

Second, thank you for this week’s guest. These books sound intriguing and I look forward to tracking them down.

For myself, I wish you both well and look forward to your return.

  2. Pets have been even more central than usual to a lot of people’s lives this year, and I’m very sorry for your loss.

This was an odd episode, not bad, I hasten to add, but odd.

The fact neither of you wanted to spoil books I’m guessing a lot of the listenership haven’t read (though they do sound interesting) I can quite understand and applaud, but it did leave me floundering slightly for much of the discussion as I feel I was missing a lot of context, as you were discussing characters and situations I have zero awareness of. With the X-books even the ones I haven’t read I have a vague awareness of the chaarcters and scenarios, but not this.

I wonder if this might perhaps have benefitted from a couple of weeks notice, so that anyone interested in the books could have had a chance to track them down and read them beforehand?
