Jay & Miles X-Plain the X-Men

Double Gatefold Foil Die-Cut Skip Week: Collector’s Edition

codeine_or_time

Miles here!

So: we were planning to record episode 117 this past Saturday (giving us our usual eight days of time for editing, post-production, proofing, and patching) – things were going to be a little tighter than usual for our producer Kyle since he was traveling during the second part of the week, but he volunteered to kick extra ass around his day job to get the episode done around his trip.

Aaaaand then Jay very suddenly got very sick, and between our schedule and Kyle’s, by the time it became clear that they weren’t going to be able to record, it was too late to find an emergency back-up co-host, do the prep we’d need for a guest, and record and produce an episode.

All of that to say: we’ll be recording episode 117 a week later than we planned, which means it’s going up a week later. Jay’s going to be fine and we’re going to do what we can to make sure this doesn’t happen again, but we won’t have a new episode this coming Sunday.

Apologies to all of you – and thanks for your understanding. In the meantime, we’ll have video reviews up at the usual times this and next week, and episode 117 will be up on July 17th.

  1. How many copies of the double gatefold die-cut edition must I buy to get the Cyclops Has a Good Day Variant? 10:1? 50:1?

Thanks for the heads up. Things are unavoidable sometimes, and you two have a stellar track record of delivering the podcasts week after week for 2+ years. Looking forward to 117 when you can deliver it as intended. 🙂

  2. Good thing I have a backlog of episodes to listen to! I hope Jay feels better soon and isn’t too stressed.

  3. I don’t care about dates… I care about you!!
If Jay needs rest, Jay gets rest and we send good vibes.
    simple as that.

    much love.

  4. Thanks for the heads up, and send the patient best wishes for a swift recovery (Though remind Jay that they should take the time they need to recover properly!)

  5. Srsly, don’t thrash yourselves to death. Take time off! Take holidays too, if needed.
(There is self interest, I need someone to explain to me exactly WTF is going on in the 20 or so issues after Chris Claremont leaves the XMen. I’ve tried reading it 2 or 3 times and I’m still not clear on it all)

  6. Don’t you guys worry about it, tell Jay to just worry about getting better!

    We will still be here.

  7. Get well soon Jay!
We love to listen to the show but… we love to listen because it is of such superlatively high quality, if you’re killing yourselves to just get it out there it …might not be as good. So don’t worry, and don’t rush.
    We love you.

Also, is there ever going to be more X-men Evolution? Is that just done? Again, all love and patience, but I did enjoy those…..

  8. And this is why you should always have inventory episodes ready !

(Just kidding, I hope Jay recovers promptly.)

  9. Your consistency over 110+ episodes is a sight to behold. I guess you’re allowed this once (please note my heavy sarcasm. Get well soon)

  10. Taking the world by the hand and leading it through the vast absurdity of the x-universe with endless wit and style can take it’s toll on a body. Rest up Jay and feel better!

  11. News to me, and relevant to this site, and I don’t know if there’s a better spot to post it:

Amazon is telling me about two new “Epic Collections” available in March. Excalibur: The Sword is Drawn and New Mutants: Renewal, which sound like they are both starting at #1. For those of us who like phone books, this is exciting.

  12. Feel better, ok? Don’t let the sick jump to Miles, either. I know when either I get sick my wife is usually next. Take care of yourselves, we’ll be here when you’re ready.

  13. First time posting (but then I only just managed to listen through all the episodes! How did it take me until April to find you guys???). My iPhone can be a bit shitty and so I thought nothing of it when I saw no new Jay and Miles, just have to refresh it…nope…so I head to the website. All I can say is, having been in Kyle’s position, it’s not hard and well done for trying. Jay? Please, please, please look after yourself. As someone who ignores that advice regularly, I know how hard it can be, but trust me, all of us listeners need to teaching is about the minute details that we missed growing up with X-Men!!!

You are both a very missed part of my week this week, and I’m sending all the loving thoughts in the world to your speedy recovery.
