Perhaps Magma’s pose was intended to be straight-facing. If we’re feeling charitable, it could be the fault of the inker? Magma’s silhouette could certainly be read that way. Since her feet aren’t drawn, the only thing that suggests contortion are a few interior lines. No, actually her hip bone, too, but could be a misinterpretation.

I can’t believe I finally got to this episode! I’ve been binging the podcast all the way through starting in December, and now I’m caught up!
From what I remember of the Weapon X section of AoA, it was more of the same of Hama and Kubert’s “Take everything up to 11” approach of story and style. Which is appropriate for Wolverine at the time. When Kubert’s work is moved to more central X-books, it’s kind of tightened up a bit, but this wildness is very appropriate for the time. future nose-less Logan aside.
