  1. While some may not enjoy Generation X during this period, I loved it. It was light on action, but heavy on character and did a much better job at selling the idea that these are students, not super heroes. Plus, Bachalo could draw an entire issue of these kids lazing away in a meadow for an entire issue while daydreaming and I would still buy it. And, most likely, enjoy it.

X-Factor, however, was something I checked out sporadically during this time but wasn’t really in to. I enjoyed Mackie on solo stories (Gambit, Rogue, Ghost Rider) but though his X-Factor run left something to be desired. I did enjoy his first year on Mutant X but that was all of it that I read.

  2. This sounds like a fun few issues.

Is the Danger Grotto holographic? I always got the impression it was set up to be the exact opposite of the Danger Room, so it was a natural environment with no technology in it at all, beyond some camera’s for observation. On the basis that would be cheaper to repair that than millions of dollars worth of super-tech hardware.

I only know US-1 from his appearance in John Byrne’s She-Hulk run, though the story spent more time with his friend Buford “Razorback” Hollis, an Arkansas local hero and mutant with the power to drive any vehicle, human or alien, instantly (So he’s the Drivers Ed intersection of Cypher and Forge) and whose costume is better googled than described, trust me on that.

    1. Yeah, I thought the Danger Grotto was a natural biome as well.

I only became aware of US-1 through this podcast. I seem to recall Chris Sims really wanted to come back and discuss it if it ever showed up in an X-Men comic. I’m a little sad that it hasn’t.

  3. I knew the Monet autism episode would be here one day and still end up taken by surprise when we get to the paper scene. Something I’m realizing is how very few Autistic characters actually have autism symptom and instead have symptoms of Co-morbid conditions.
