  1. I salute you for creating a cold open that made me angry at Nick Spencer’s treatment of Diamondback and Constrictor all over again. We should probably all be pretty mad at him most of the time, not because of his writing but because of his political career, and I needed to be reminded that sometimes his writing is almost as bad.

  2. All good people love Bernie Rosenthal, but Diamondback was absolutely Cap’s best and most fun love interest. Every writer who hasn’t revived that ship has done us a disservice.

    1. Yup, she’s Cap’s answer to Batman/Catwoman or Silverbolt/Blackarachnia; a well intentioned but painfully strait-laced hero with a morally grey but not especially malevolent criminal who doesn’t take things as seriously as they do does. Those are always fun!

  3. I’d like to see some of this ‘Australian’ dialogue, though I can imagine how terrible it will be. Also, the cool spaceship. I do love a good ship.
And whoever, chose the title for this ep, good work! Very good title.

  4. Did Magneto speak in Yiddish to Kitty when he pulled her out of the bullet?

I only know Diamondback from Gail Simone & David Baldeon’s Domino run and remember her being very fun there. (Of course had to look up to check it was the same one!)

    1. YEP. I vividly misremembered it as having been Hebrew and so decided not to look it back up before recording–mea culpa!

  5. I’m a New Zealander living overseas and you’d be surprised how many people guess I’m South African when they hear my accent for the first time.
(See also the guy from the Ender’s Game movie who was clearly South African even though he was supposed to be kiwi)
So, like, from an American perspective I can see how South African accent = Kiwi accent = Aussie accent = terrible comic book Aussie accent.

  6. Maggott — the extra “t” is for extra terrific!

I always bring up a long pet theory I read a long time ago, probably back on Usenet back in the day. In X-Men 75, Joe Kelly had Eeny and Meany join Pilgrimm of the demon group Rutai. They all have similar eye and skin coloring and skin patterns, and it seemed Pilgrimm could talk to them. It was theorized that maybe the slugs were not part of Maggott’s mutanity, but he’s actually the host body for Rutai larvae.
